Today's Reflection

Dear Brothers and Sisters, todays news about Alex Saab, an ally of Venezuelas Maduro, pleading guilty in a US corruption case, underscores how times of reckoning and justice are also part of lifes seasons. Just as Ecclesiastes teaches that there is a time for uprooting and discarding, so too in society there comes moments when hidden truth comes to light, difficult but necessary for healing and renewal.

Coping

Todays readings remind us that every season—joy or sorrow, loss or healing—has its place within Gods larger story. When we face difficult news or personal trials, Ecclesiastes urges us to hold fast: there is a time for everything, and even suffering will be transformed as part of Gods plan.

Family

In moments of uncertainty, the Psalm invites us to shelter in Gods faithfulness, remembering that our families are held in His hands. We are called to offer warmth and support, recognizing that human life is fleeting and precious, and making the most of the moments we share together.

Community

These passages challenge us to see ourselves as part of a greater whole. Jesus’s question, Who do you say I am? calls for honest identity and solidarity. Our community thrives when we move through both suffering and hope together, embracing the cycles of building and restoration.

First Reading · Ecclesiastes 3:1-11

[1] There is a season for everything, a time for every occupation under heaven: [2] A time for giving birth, a time for dying; a time for planting, a time for uprooting what has been planted. [3] A time for killing, a time for healing; a time for knocking down, a time for building. [4] A time for tears, a time for laughter; a time for mourning, a time for dancing. [5] A time for throwing stones away, a time for gathering them; a time for embracing, a time to refrain from embracing. [6] A time for searching, a time for losing; a time for keeping, a time for discarding. [7] A time for tearing, a time for sewing; a time for keeping silent, a time for speaking.
