Today's Reflection

Dear Brothers and Sisters, today’s news of Alex Saab—a close ally of Venezuela’s Maduro—pleading guilty in a US corruption case shows how earthly power and hidden motives are eventually brought to light. We are reminded that God’s judgment is just, and He alone rules with perfect honor and truth. The readings today challenge us to look beyond human courts and failures, trusting that Christ’s kingdom is where real justice and restoration are found.

Coping

The readings remind us that in confusing or troubling times, especially when hard news arrives, God knows our hearts and stands as the eternal Ruler whose kingdom will not end. Coping is possible because we are seen and strengthened by God’s faithfulness, even when the world feels uncertain.

Family

Just as Nathanael was known deeply by Jesus, we are called to see and support each other within our families. Honoring each other with honesty and love invites God’s kingdom into our homes, helping our families flourish under Gods unending care.

Community

The vision of all peoples and nations serving together before God challenges us to build communities marked by justice, integrity, and mutual service. In a world often divided, we are invited to seek unity and kindness, reflecting Gods everlasting reign in our daily interactions.

First Reading · Daniel 7:9-10, 13-14

[9] While I was watching, thrones were set in place and one most venerable took his seat. His robe was white as snow, the hair of his head as pure as wool. His throne was a blaze of flames, its wheels were a burning fire. [10] A stream of fire poured out, issuing from his presence. A thousand thousand waited on him, ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him. The court was in session and the books lay open. [13] I was gazing into the visions of the night, when I saw, coming on the clouds of heaven, as it were a son of man. He came to the One most venerable and was led into his presence. [14] On him was conferred rule, honour and kingship, and all peoples, nations and languages became his servants. His rule is an everlasting rule which will never pass away, and his kingship will never come to an end.

[1] [Of David] I thank you, Yahweh, with all my heart, for you have listened to the cry I uttered. In the presence of angels I sing to you, [2] I bow down before your holy Temple. [47] When Jesus saw Nathanael coming he said of him, 'There, truly, is an Israelite in whom there is no deception.' [48] Nathanael asked, 'How do you know me?' Jesus replied, 'Before Philip came to call you, I saw you under the fig tree.' [49] Nathanael answered, 'Rabbi, you are the Son of God, you are the king of Israel.' [50] Jesus replied, 'You believe that just because I said: I saw you under the fig tree. You are going to see greater things than that.' [51] And then he added, 'In all truth I tell you, you will see heaven open and the angels of God ascending and descending over the Son of man.'
